The European Satellite Navigation Competition, commonly known as the Galileo Masters, was held for the 8th consecutive year.
Businesses, entrepreneurs, research institutes, universities and individuals from over 20 regions in Europe and the rest of the world take part in this competition. It rewards the most innovative ideas and projects in the field of satellite applications related to Safety, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and Mobile Telephones.

The region of Nice-Sophia Antipolis is one of the two gateways for selecting projects on national territory.
Team Côte d’Azur et the Paca-Est Incubator, which is involved in the competition for the first time, with the support of the Sophia Antipolis Foundation, are jointly coordinating the Nice Sophia Antipolis challenge to choose one of the 2011 Regional Galileo Masters.
The Alpes-Maritimes General Council, which historically supports the participation of Nice Sophia Antipolis in this competition, will reward the regional winner by offering:
- 6 months’ free use of premises at the CICA in Sophia Antipolis
- 10 days of consultancy to help turn the winner’s idea into a business plan
For the 2011 challenge, if the winner is an SME, it will also receive a year’s free membership to the SCS competitiveness cluster.
The official presentation of the 2011 Galileo Masters and the 2010 Regional Galileo award ceremony will take place on 16th May 2011 at 4.30 pm at CICA Sophia Antipolis.
