The start-up Open-Plug, which opened its doors in 2002, has just been acquired by communications solutions provider Alcatel-Lucent.
Open-Plug's tools allow an application to be developed across all operating systems at the same time.
Alcatel-Lucent can now provide service suppliers, companies and developers with the functionalities afforded by Open-Plug to create and deploy applications in record time - at the same time as maintaining a single user experience - on most mobile devices and in online stores for service supplier applications. In particular, certain applications that have up until now been reserved for the most advanced devices, such as smartphones, will now be available to the general public on any type of device. This development will create openings in emerging markets where low-price mobile phones predominate.
The terms of the acquisition have not been released.
