Designed and developed by Varois company Robopec, with support from Paca-Est Incubator, Reeti is a PCBot© that brings together the worlds of the PC media center and communicative robotics. A truly expressive robot, it can display an infinite combination of emotions thanks to its fifteen movable features on the neck, mouth, two independent eyes and ears. Color shows up on its cheeks according to its mood. Reeti can also feel human touch thanks to its touch sensors. Both eyes contain HD cameras, giving it sharp eyesight and 3D perception of its environment. This means it can recognize and follow people and objects. It recognizes and processes around ten words and can perceive where a sound is coming from. Voice synthesis provides it with the gift of speech. It can be customized using its adaptive and configurable artificial intelligence.

"Over the next few years we'll see the widespread development of smartphone and tablet applications allowing remote control of robots and other electronic devices. Reeti can provide home surveillance while you're on holiday, video chat or Facebook communication with loved ones using an iPad or iPhone," said Christophe ROUSSET – CEO/Founder of Robopec.

Reeti: a robot, applications, adapt it for your use
You can launch specific Reeti applications (RApps) on the Reeti interface as well as standard PC applications (Chrome, OpenOffice, Skype, Gimp and so on). REETI runs on Linux Ubuntu and the URBI software platform, used for the development of robotic applications. Reeti also has its own artificial intelligence (AI), which is what tells Reeti how to behave. A configuration interface allows you to adjust and customize its functionality. When the product is released, ten or so applications will be available, allowing users to control Reeti, move it around, program it, manage a dynamic diary, carry out video surveillance, take photos automatically, host the reception area of a company or a stand at a show and so on.

Regular updates will then add to Reeti's functionality: augmented reality games, educational software and games, professional applications for different trades.

The Reeti architecture can be used to develop new applications.
Reeti thus opens up a unique field of application for developers, companies and local authorities in the domains of professional and educational applications and games. The world of research will have access to a new experimentation and implementation platform. Individuals and development enthusiasts will be able to breath life into their ideas and share them with others.
With an entirely open development environment, all tools and interfaces (Flash, C++, Urbi, java, QT and so on) can be used to develop applications adapted to individual needs. A PRO version for businesses and local authorities has been designed to enrich the standard communication tools available to professionals: Reeti can host a stand at a show or a reception area. It provides an original way to welcome visitors, presents products or services as well as interactive quizzes or marketing.

As a host, attraction, or originality, Reeti can do wonders for your image!

REETI is on sale at a cost of €4,990 incl. tax.
Come and meet it at the Fête du Numérique on 15th June 2011 at Six Fours and from 23rd to 26th June at Futur en Seine in Paris (at CENTQUATRE).
